The couple from Kiganjo, Thika, died on the night of Friday, June 5. The man is alleged to have used acid to inflict serious burn injuries on his wife and kids before turning on himself.

Speaking to the media, a neighbour narrated that one of the little boys pleaded for his life, as his father meted out the violence to the whole family.

The neighbours said that by the time they gained access to the house, the family members were all in critical condition, with the man and one of his sons dying before arrival in the hospital.

“By the time we entered the house, they all had serious burn wounds. The woman was rushed to the ICU in the Gatundu hospital. One of the kids wailed while calling out his dad. The boy cried while saying, ‘baba niwache. Acha nitoke ‘ (Dad, let go of me, let me go out),’ the neighbour said.

Sadly, the entire family of four has since died.

It is alleged that the couple had been estranged, with the man being left to care for the children.

On the fateful night, the woman had returned to make some food for the kids, not knowing her husband’s plan to wipe out the family with acid.

“The boys had been sent to the shop, and by the time they came back, their mum had already been attacked with the acid,” the police said, adding the children screamed for their lives.
