A tragic incident has shocked residents of Salaga in Ghana’s Savannah Region after a young man reportedly died while attempting to demonstrate what he claimed were supernatural powers during a public event.
The deceased, popularly known as Sheihu and believed to be in his early twenties, allegedly stabbed himself with a knife during a youth-organised programme held as part of activities marking the annual Fire Festival in Salaga, located in the East Gonja Municipality.
According to eyewitness accounts, the incident occurred on Wednesday, June 24, 2026, before a large crowd of spectators. Witnesses said Sheihu appeared determined to prove his spiritual abilities and immunity to harm. During the demonstration, he allegedly used a knife to stab himself in the body.
However, the act reportedly went wrong when he sustained severe injuries from the stab wound. People at the scene quickly rushed to assist him before he was transported to the Salaga Government Hospital for emergency medical treatment.
Despite efforts by doctors and other medical personnel to save his life, Sheihu was later pronounced dead at the hospital.
