Nigerian film producer Stanley Ontop has publicly criticised Stella Marris, the widow of late Nollywood actor John Okafor, popularly known as Mr Ibu, following her recent viral video with influencer King Mitchy.
In the video, Stella appealed for financial assistance, saying she was struggling to pay rent, electricity bills, and her children’s school fees, which she claimed had forced them out of school.
Reacting in an Instagram video shared on June 25, Stanley Ontop questioned why she was seeking public support just two years after her husband’s passing. He further alleged that Mr Ibu left behind about N66 million in his bank account and demanded answers about how the money was managed.
“How can you come out after two years since your husband died and you’re asking people to contribute money for you? For what? This man died and left 66 million naira in his bank account. Where is the money?” he said, also referencing claims about funds raised during the burial.
Stanley went on to allege that significant amounts were collected and later withdrawn after the funeral, insisting that over N30 million was contributed by sympathisers.
“You kept that money until they finished the burial. You go cash out the money, share it with maybe your family and your friends… Where is the money?” he added.
He also accused Stella Okafor of selling several of Mr Ibu’s properties, including plots of land in Asaba, properties in Enugu, and a house in Lagos, claiming they were sold for millions of naira.
“You sold Mr Ibu’s property… over 8 plots of land in Asaba for 16 million. You sold property in Enugu for over 18 million. The house in Askamaya… you sold it for over 60 million naira. Where is the money?” he alleged.
Stanley dismissed Stella’s claims of financial hardship, suggesting she was attempting to pressure the public into further donations.
He, however, defended King Mitchy, praising her for her charitable efforts and stating that she has consistently helped vulnerable Nigerians.
“I don’t blame King Mitchy… she’s really helping a lot of Nigerians who need help,” he said, urging critics to stop attacking the influencer.
