Troops of Sector 2, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, have recovered a cache of high-calibre weapons and improvised explosive devices (IEDs) following a successful offensive against suspected Lakurawa terrorists in Kebbi State.

The Nigerian Army revealed this in a statement by Lieutenant Colonel Olaniyi Osoba, Acting Deputy Director, Army Public Relations, 8 Division Nigerian Army and Sector 2, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, on Monday, June 15.

The statement confirmed that the operation, conducted on June 14, 2026, around the Dogon Daji area of Dandi Local Government Area, was part of ongoing efforts to eliminate terrorist and criminal elements operating across the North-West region.

According to the Nigerian Army, troops engaged the terrorists with superior firepower, forcing them to abandon their positions and flee the area.

A subsequent pursuit along the terrorists’ escape routes led to the recovery of several weapons, explosives and logistics items believed to have been abandoned during the retreat.

Items recovered included Rocket-Propelled Grenade (RPG) launch tubes, several RPG warheads, multiple improvised explosive devices, two motorcycles used for mobility, battery chargers and other personal belongings.

The Army said no casualties were recorded among the troops during the operation.

The military described the operation as a significant blow to terrorist activities in the area, noting that it reflects the continued determination of the Joint Task Force North West, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, to dismantle terrorist and bandit networks across the region.

It reaffirmed its commitment to sustaining offensive operations aimed at denying criminal groups freedom of movement and restoring security to affected communities.
