Since returning to office, President Donald Trump has dramatically transformed the White House, taking a wrecking ball to the East Wing to make way for his sprawling ballroom, paving over the Rose Garden and coating the Oval Office in gilded decor.
Now, his daughter-in-law Lara Trump has revealed that the 79-year-old Republican has also made smaller, less noticeable flourishes. Namely, he’s adorned the executive mansion with numerous palm-sized, golden medallions — even installing them in a bathroom.
“The president has an affinity for these medallions. They’re all over the place,” Lara Trump, the wife of Eric Trump and former co-chair of the Republican National Committee, said in a video tour of the West Wing posted to Instagram on Thursday.
While standing in the colonnade, she pointed to a tiny round ornament bearing the presidential seal installed beneath a large mirror.
“They’re here, but they’re even in the shower…if you happen to stay at the White House,” she said, while smiling and throwing up her arms.
Trump and King Charles III were photographed walking past the medallion during the monarch’s state visit to the U.S. in April. A similar medallion was also photographed atop the Resolute Desk in November.
Earlier in the video, Lara Trump observed the ongoing construction work on the president’s towering UFC arena, being assembled on the South Lawn for a series of cage matches on the president’s 80th birthday later this month.
“I gotta say I’m pretty impressed with the work,” she remarked. “I feel like I’m a little bit of a construction manager here, but they know what to do.”
Her Architectural Digest-esque tour then moved into the Rose Garden, where Trump had earlier replaced the grass and flower beds with a patio lined with tables and umbrellas — mirroring his outdoor set-up at Mar-a-Lago.
“The ‘Rose Garden’ is far better without all the dirt,” said the former Fox News contributor and aspiring singer before stepping out onto the patio in high heels.
“Look how beautiful this is,” she said. “Previously my shoes would’ve been in the mud.”
Later, she took stock of the “Presidential Walk of Fame,” a series of presidential portraits and accompanying plaques lining the colonnade. Some of the plaques include derisive comments about the president’s Democratic predecessors, and the frame where Joe Biden’s portrait would have been instead holds an image of an auto-pen.
Lara Trump pointed out that her father-in-law’s frame, unlike others, does not include an end date to his presidency. It just reads: “2025 -.”
It appears to be a reference to Trump’s repeated insinuations that he may attempt to run for an unconstitutional third term in 2028.
“Who knows, it could really be anytime. Just kidding, don’t freak out,” Lara Trump said before adding: “2025 to whenever he wants.”
