Popular social media activist and commentator, VeryDarkMan, has stirred reactions online after making controversial remarks about the country’s security situation and the fight against banditry.
In a video shared on social media, VeryDarkMan alleged that security agencies and government authorities are aware of the identities of bandits operating across parts of the country.
According to him, reports and videos showing armed bandits moving openly in large numbers have raised concerns among Nigerians about the effectiveness of efforts to tackle insecurity.
“At this point, we can all agree that the government are the bandits and kidnappers. Bandits dey pass, security operatives and police dey wave at them, dey greet them,” he said.
The activist also referenced past comments made by Islamic cleric Sheikh Ahmad Gumi, who had claimed that government authorities were familiar with some bandit leaders and that he often travelled to meet them with security escorts.
