The clip, captured by a truck driver in the Masimba area along the highway, showed the elderly woman wearing a white sweater and a leso tied around her waist as she walked slowly with a bent posture.

A few lorries could be seen ahead of her, while the driver recording the video followed several metres behind.

He claimed that the woman was asking for a lift, but no one was willing to help her, including him.

“If this is your grandmother, just know we have left her right here where you left her. We have just arrived in Masimba and found her walking and asking for a lift at this hour. We have left her in Masimba, so come and get her because we are not carrying anyone,” he said.

The truck driver further questioned where the woman was headed and where she had come from at such a late hour, considering her advanced age.

He eventually drove past her without looking back, leaving her situation and destination unknown.

Anybody with sinister motives would struggle to act in such a busy area.”
