Nigerian comedian and actor Bovi has spoken about his marriage and the alarming rate of divorce in the industry.
While speaking to Morayo Afolabi Brown, he said he celebrates when people get divorced because he feels it means one or both were not breathing well in the marriage.
Bovi admitted that his marriage hasn’t been easy, but he would never make life difficult for anyone, and he wouldn’t want anyone to make life difficult for him.

Last year, Bovi and Kris Asimonye, had celebrated their 16th wedding anniversary, with lovely family photos. The comedian revealed that when they get bored, they will make new kids.
Just a day before their anniversary, Bovi celebrated his wife, Kris Asimonye, as she turned a new age. He described his wife as his biggest win since inception. Calling her the love of his life, he stated that his wife is the tree that shades him from the sun.
Bovi got married in 2009 to Kris Asimonye Ugboma.
In an interview last year, Bovi shared his secret to staying married, revealing that he was just lucky, as he believes most marriages have to do with luck before any planning comes into play. The comedian noted that there is no perfect marriage, but perfection comes from loving the imperfections.
In a past interview, he said he always knew he would marry a fine woman, and was lucky as his wife was similar to his mother. Bovi, also stated that he never planned to have three children, adding that he wanted to have just a child. Now the couple is blessed with three children.
Back in 2023, the couple renewed their vows to celebrate their anniversary. The couple renewed their vows on water, with mariners as officiating ministers. The video from the renewal caused a stir online, with many nicknaming the couple Mr and Mrs Mariners.
In other news, while celebrating International Men’s Day, Bovi wrote a note to men who have tried to transition to a different gender. The comedian lamented that being a man isn’t a day’s work as he listed out the things men go through.
The award-winning comedian had written a note to himself, revealing that he had tried resisting temptation, but temptation refused to resist him. Bovi said society shaped him, and noted how he is half body, half spirit, a hybrid of good and evil and a blend of pain and pleasure.
In 2024, Bovi detailed how he survived a spiritual attack, from two powerful enemies. He disclosed that he thought he could go through life without having enemies, but he learned the hard way.
