Nollywood actress Toyin Adewale has shared her stance on whether marriage is a do-or-die thing for her.

“Marriage isn’t a do-or-die thing for me. I wouldn’t stay if he beats me. If there’s no violence and it’s just a minor misunderstanding, it’s normal. Why do I leave? Do I know what will happen where I am going? I got married with the determination of never leaving my marriage, provided there’s no violence.

I got married in January 1993 and had Mayowa in March 1993. I have been married for 33 years. I am the gentle one”.

In a recent interview, Omotola Ekeinde, stated clearly that divorce isn’t an option for her. She described her husband as a selfless person with no ego and revealed that they’ve never fought over a girl.

Opeyemi Aiyeola, in an interview, had opened up about how she blocked her colleagues in the industry after marriage because of her fear of divorce. The Yoruba actress recalled how she met her husband during the peak of her career and gave it up to start a family with him in London. She said that when she finally got herself back after ten years, she questioned who she had offended and told her husband it was time to focus on her career.

In an interview, veteran Ngozi Nwosu kicked against infidelity as a deal-breaker in marriages. For her, the deal breaker in any marriage should be when their spouse physically assaults them. The movie star recounted how she cancelled her wedding with her former partner over battery. According to her, her ex was physically assaulting her even when she was carrying his baby.

Ngozi Nwosu wasn’t the only one who doesn’t see infidelity as a deal breaker. In February, Yetunde Kuti, the wife of controversial singer Seun Kuti, in an interview with TVC ‘Your View’, stated that infidelity isn’t a deal breaker for her.

Similarly, singer, Seun Kuti’s aunt, Yeni Kuti, stated that infidelity is not a deal breaker in marriage. Referring to how her late father married several women, she insisted that she would never leave her home for another woman as she revealed the only deal breaker in her marriage is when her husband cheats with his fellow man.

Veteran actress Patience Ozokwor revealed that she can’t leave her husband over infidelity. She stated that she can’t leave her husband’s house for anyone because the side chick is the visitor and, as such, must leave for her. Mama G, as she is fondly called, went on to list out the things she would do to secure her home.

To add to it, Desola Afod, the wife of Yoruba actor Kunle Afod, in an interview, vowed never to leave her husband even if he cheats on others. She noted how leaving her husband over infidelity wouldn’t guarantee that the next man she would meet would stay faithful to her. Desola stated that though her husband isn’t perfect, he is a good man, and as long as he doesn’t physically assault her, she doesn’t see any reason why she would leave him.
