30-Year-Old Husband Arrested for Allegedly Beating 20-year-old Wife to Death Over Refusal to Cook

A 30-year-old man, Musbawu Amodu, has been arrested by the Nasarawa State Police Command for allegedly beating his 20-year-old wife to death after she reportedly refused to cook at their home in Agyaragu, Obi Local Government Area of the state.

According to the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Ramhan Nansel, the suspect was taken into custody after police received a report that he had assaulted his wife, who later died from the injuries she sustained. During interrogation, Amodu allegedly confessed that he attacked his wife in a fit of anger following an argument over her refusal to prepare a meal.

Nansel said, “The suspect confessed to committing the act out of anger after the deceased allegedly refused to prepare food. An argument ensued, which escalated into a physical altercation that ultimately resulted in her death.” Police disclosed that the couple had been married for six years and had two children, a boy and a girl.

The Commissioner of Police, CP Shettima Jauro Mohammed, has directed that the case be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) in Lafia for a thorough investigation and assured that the suspect would be prosecuted after investigations are concluded.
