Ruben Amorim has made an immediate statement as AC Milan manager after the club completed the signing of Portuguese striker Gonçalo Ramos from Paris Saint-Germain in a club-record transfer.
The Rossoneri announced the arrival of the 25-year-old for a reported fee of about £60 million (€70 million), with the forward signing a long-term contract that will keep him at the San Siro until 2031.
The transfer surpasses Milan’s previous record fee of £42 million, which the club paid to sign Rafael Leão from Lille OSC in 2019.
Ramos joins Milan after a successful spell in France, where he scored 45 goals in 131 appearances for Paris Saint-Germain.
During his time in Paris, he won three league titles and two Champions League trophies.
The striker began his development at Olhanense before progressing through Benfica’s academy, where he established himself as one of Portugal’s brightest attacking talents.
He also announced himself on the global stage with a hat-trick for Portugal against Switzerland at the 2022 FIFA World Cup.
The signing is expected to strengthen Milan’s attack as Amorim begins the task of rebuilding the club following a disappointing campaign.
