A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Aare Kazeem Bakinson, has launched a new political support group, Bakinson Movement for Yayi 2027, to mobilise grassroots support for the governorship ambition of Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola, popularly known as Yayi, ahead of the 2027 Ogun State governorship election.
Bakinson, who announced the initiative in a letter addressed to the Director-General of the Yayi 2027 Campaign Organisation, said the movement would operate across Ogun State’s 20 local government areas, 37 Local Council Development Areas (LCDAs) and 236 political wards.
According to him, the group is designed to strengthen grassroots mobilisation, promote the senator’s achievements and development agenda, as well as encourage voter education and Permanent Voter Card (PVC) registration.
He disclosed that the movement would focus on youth, women, artisans and professionals through structured engagement aimed at expanding support for Adeola’s governorship aspiration.
Bakinson also sought the formal recognition of the group by the Yayi 2027 Campaign Organisation, requesting strategic collaboration on campaign messaging, mobilisation activities and data sharing to ensure effective coordination.
Among the programmes outlined by the movement are a proposed “One Million March for Yayi 2027,” zonal stakeholders’ town hall meetings tagged “One Ogun, One Vision,” empowerment and community outreach initiatives, as well as digital and media advocacy campaigns.
He further invited the leadership of the Yayi campaign to attend the official inauguration of the movement as special guest of honour.
As part of efforts to consolidate support at the grassroots, Bakinson said he would meet leaders of Ward 10, Oke Ago Owu, on Thursday morning, followed by a ward meeting later in the day.
He added that from August 1, he would begin consultations with prominent Ogun indigenes to seek endorsements for Senator Adeola’s governorship ambition.
Although Senator Adeola has yet to formally declare his intention to contest the 2027 governorship election, several political groups have continued to emerge across the state to canvass support for his possible bid.
