Rey Mugambi, a Kenyan, is married to a British woman, Amber. Together, they have two beautiful children, a handsome son and an adorable daughter.

The family lives in Leeds and has taught their children both English and Kiswahili, embracing both cultures in their marriage and family life.

“Even that half-translation back into Swahili is a win!! We’re making progress,” the caption read.

Rey and Amber wanted to see whether their toddler could translate between them. While Rey spoke to Amaya in Swahili, Amber communicated with her in English.

Rey asked his daughter in Swahili to ask her mother whether she wanted some coffee. Amaya listened attentively before running over to Amber.

She delivered the message to her mother, demonstrating that she understood Kiswahili. Amber responded in English.

“Yes, I would like coffee with milk,” Amber replied.

Amaya then ran back to her father to relay her mother’s response in English.

Rey asked Amaya in Kiswahili whether her mum wanted coffee with milk, and she confirmed that she did before running back to Amber to proudly report that she had delivered the message.

Amber then praised her daughter and asked her to ask Rey whether he liked tractors. She encouraged Amaya to say it in Swahili.

Rey replied in Swahili that he indeed loved tractors.

Later, Amaya was seen heading back to her mother while holding a football, saying in Swahili that she had a ball in her hand.
