The Federal High Court in Abuja has issued a bench warrant for the arrest of Adeniyi Adeyemi, the self-proclaimed Director-General of the alleged Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council (PFIPC), after he failed to appear for his scheduled arraignment on charges bordering on forgery, fraud and impersonation. Police authorities have since confirmed that Adeyemi was arrested in Osun State following the court’s order.
Justice Mohammed Umar granted the prosecution’s application after Adeyemi failed to appear in court to answer an eight-count charge in suit FHC/ABJ/CR/562/2025. Although his lawyer, Genesis Francis, announced his appearance, the defendant was absent, prompting the prosecution to seek a warrant for his arrest.
The prosecution, led by the Inspector-General of Police, told the court that this was the fifth time the matter had come up and that previous adjournments were due to Adeyemi’s repeated failure to appear. The defence argued that Adeyemi stayed away because he feared for his life, but the court granted the application and directed security agencies to produce him before the court.
Following the bench warrant, police operatives tracked and arrested Adeyemi in Osun State. He is currently in police custody and is being questioned over his alleged role in the activities of the purported PFIPC, an organisation the Federal Government has described as non-existent.
The case stems from allegations that Adeyemi falsely presented himself as the head of the PFIPC, allegedly forged official government documents, impersonated public officials and carried out activities under the name of the council. The matter attracted national attention after the Presidency distanced itself from the organisation and launched investigations into its operations.
The court has adjourned the matter until September 30, when Adeyemi is expected to be produced for arraignment.
