Nollywood actress Destiny Etiko has given an update on her colleague, Cynthia Nkachukwu Anijekwu, who is battling cancer.
Kemi Filani reported that Destiny had made a heartfelt plea for assistance on behalf of the ailing actress. She shared a video of Nkachukwu where she opened up about her painful journey with the illness.
In the emotional clip, Cynthia revealed that she underwent surgery and chemo, but the cancer later came back, and she has been in and out of the hospital. She said her condition has worsened, requiring radiation and further surgery, which her family can no longer afford.
“Good evening, Nigerians. My name is Cynthia. I have cancer, 2023. And I did my surgery. I took chemo. But later, it came back again, and I’ve been in and out of the hospital. The recent check-up results showed that it has reached my bone. And the treatment now is higher. I spend 600 and something a month now. And it’s not easy.
Please, I need to live. I need to survive. I’m asking Nigerians to please help me. Anyone that can help, please, I need help. Your one Naira, your two Naira can add up to something reasonable for me to take the proper treatment for this cancer. I’m begging you, please help me.”
In an update, Destiny revealed that Nigerians had contributed 13.1 million out of the N20 million required within hours. She expressed how overwhelmed and grateful she is, thanking them for the massive love.
“You all contributed N13.1 million out of the 20m.
It’s a lot, and she is overwhelmed with joy.
She is super grateful and in shock.
God bless y’all.

This sweet gesture from Destiny isn’t surprising, as she is known to be kind-hearted.
Her colleague, Sarah Martins, had called for prayers for Etiko, urging her fans to thank God for blessing her with Destiny. She appreciated her for her silent favours, for standing by her, for shining and letting others shine as much as they can. Sarah further appreciated Destiny for being original and crowned her the most kind-hearted soul in the industry.
In different news, Destiny sent a message to an unknown colleague, noting that the colleague had asked for forgiveness; however, she hasn’t forgotten what she did to her, which she considers an abomination.
Sometimes back, Etiko recounted how God delivered her from severe neck pain, which she woke up with. Being spiritual, Destiny believed she had been attacked and had to speak to her pastor for prayers as well as her mother’s and friend’s pastors. Fortunately for her, after fervently praying for healing, God healed her from the pain and made her whole.
In August of 2023, Etiko reflected on her humble beginnings as she revealed that she wasn’t earning up to N100k when she started acting, but today, the reverse is the case. She stated that the passion she has for her job, which still overwhelms her, was what made her not give up.
While speaking on betrayal, she said she has a wonderful heart that had been broken a lot of times by people she loved so much and sacrificed a lot for. But the only thing is, when she decided to move, she did so without looking back because life has no duplication.
