EFCC clears air on viral ‘Secret Recruitment’ rumour

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has distanced itself from a viral social media post, which claimed they were conducting a secret recruitment exercise.

The agency on Monday, issued the clarification through its verified X account, warning Nigerians not to be misled by the circulating claim.

In the post, the EFCC shared a graphic prominently marked “FAKE NEWS” with the inscription “THIS IS FALSE NEWS. BEWARE!”, indicating that the recruitment report has no connection with the agency.

The misleading post claimed that the EFCC had quietly commenced recruitment and suggested that successful applicants would begin training next month. It also encouraged users to send anonymous messages to obtain further information.

Reacting to the claim, the commission categorically disowned the report and advised members of the public to disregard it entirely.

The EFCC noted that the rumour is similar to previous false recruitment announcements circulated online by fraudsters seeking to exploit unsuspecting job seekers.
