The Federal University, Wukari, located in southern Taraba State, has approved a comprehensive ban on all forms of students’ sign-out activities within the university campus and its immediate surroundings.
The decision was reached at the 76th regular meeting of the Senate of Federal University, Wukari.
The approval, which was announced by the Chairman of the Senate and Vice-Chancellor of the institution, Benjamin Kefas, said the ban has become necessary after receiving the report of a Committee set up by the Management to look into the activities surrounding the students’ sign-out.
He reiterated that the ban is for the security, safety, and orderly conduct of academic activities.
Consequently, all activities connected with sign-out ceremonies are prohibited. These include, but are not limited to, signing on T-shirts and other materials, processions, dancing, and celebrations within and outside classroom environments; movement of groups and convoys within and outside the University campus; and gatherings and parties around the University’s gates and along the Katsina-Ala–Jalingo Highway.
Others include any activity capable of causing traffic congestion, public disorder, or endangering lives and property.
Spraying of money and any other form of passing-out celebration.
The school security personnel have been mandated to enforce the directive strictly and report any violations for appropriate disciplinary action in accordance with the University’s rules and regulations.
The Senate of the institution called on all students, parents, guardians, alumni, and the general public to support the implementation of the directive by ensuring full compliance, as the Federal University Wukari says it remains committed to providing a secure, disciplined, and conducive learning environment where academic excellence can thrive.
