Within just one year of its establishment, the Federal Medical Centre (FMC), Misau has developed from a newly inaugurated institution into one of the most promising federal health facilities in northern Nigeria.

A New Federal Medical Centre with a Clear Vision
The establishment of FMC Misau was designed to address longstanding healthcare gaps in Bauchi State and the North-East by bringing quality tertiary healthcare closer to millions of people who previously had to travel long distances for specialist treatment.
While many newly established hospitals require several years to develop specialist departments, modern laboratories, emergency systems, and training institutions, FMC Misau has achieved in twelve months what often takes much longer.
This rapid institutional growth reflects deliberate planning, disciplined implementation, and strong support from the Federal Ministry of Health and Social Welfare.
Emerging as a Specialist Referral Centre Within One Year
One of the most notable achievements is the commencement of specialist clinical services that now attract referrals from older and more established hospitals.
Patients with complex dermatological conditions, sickle cell disease, and other haematological disorders are increasingly receiving treatment at FMC Misau.
These referrals are significant because they demonstrate growing confidence among healthcare professionals in the competence of the hospital’s specialists and its ability to manage complex medical cases.
For a newly established institution to become a referral destination within its first year is a strong indication of effective clinical leadership and sustained investment in specialised healthcare services.

Another major milestone is the hospital’s successful transition to a fully automated Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system.
