“He became my employee after losing his pilot job” – Woman shares how she supported her husband for 11 months

A Nigerian woman identified as J bums has shared how her husband temporarily worked in her company after losing his job as a pilot, saying the experience strengthened their marriage rather than destroying it.

Speaking during an interview with Diary of a Niaja Girl (DANG), she revealed that her husband was out of work for 11 months after he was laid off and had no choice but to join her business while searching for another opportunity.

In her words, she said:

“My husband used to be a pilot before he was sacked. He was out of a job for 11 months, and he worked in my company and earned a salary. He told me we had to cut down our expenses, like selling one of our two cars and reducing our domestic staff.”

The woman explained that despite becoming her employee, her husband remained actively involved in making family decisions and even took on extra responsibilities to support both the business and their home.

She disclosed that he handled deliveries to some of her customers and never allowed pride to stop him from contributing while he was unemployed.

“After that conversation, he took up some responsibilities around the house. At some point, he did deliveries to some of my customers.

During this period, I was very careful about the things I said or did to him because he might have been my employee, but he was still my husband and my leader,” she added.

Her story has sparked reactions online, with many praising the couple for their teamwork, humility and mutual respect during a difficult season, while others described it as an example of what true partnership in marriage should look like.
