Nollywood actor-turned-politician Desmond Elliot has revealed that he relied on his personal funds from the film industry to support the operations of his constituency office while serving as a member of the Lagos State House of Assembly.
Elliot, who represented Surulere Constituency I in the Lagos State House of Assembly, disclosed that he personally financed the running of the office during his time in public service.
According to the former lawmaker, proceeds from his career in filmmaking helped him cover the expenses needed to keep the office functional and accessible to constituents.
“I used my personal funds from film to run the office while I was serving as a Member of the Lagos State House of Assembly, representing Surulere Constituency I,” Elliot stated.
The actor, who transitioned into politics after years in Nollywood, has often spoken about his experience balancing his entertainment career with public service responsibilities.
Elliot served as a member of the Lagos State House of Assembly from 2015, where he represented the interests of residents in Surulere Constituency I and participated in legislative activities before leaving office.
His latest revelation has sparked discussions online, with many Nigerians sharing their views on the challenges lawmakers face while managing constituency responsibilities.
