Kenyans on social media have been left amused after a dramatic video of Nyamira County Assembly Deputy Clerk and Director of Finance and Accounts, Leonard Kevin Nyamasege, went viral.

Officers from the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) were met with an unexpected scene when they visited Kevin’s home on Tuesday, June 30, to arrest him.
The county official is linked to alleged procurement irregularities in the award of a tender for the construction of an office block at the County Assembly.

Upon spotting the officers, Kevin allegedly dashed into his house and hid in the ceiling, hoping he would not be found.

It took EACC officers some time to safely help him down from the ceiling, with the viral video capturing the unusual and awkward moment.
“Step here. Don’t hurt yourself. Do it slowly, no rush. Come down, I’ll hold you steady,” one officer is heard saying as he helped Kevin climb down.
Another officer criticised the county official for resorting to such an embarrassing act.
“Why go through all this embarrassment? And you’re an Arsenal fan. Arsenal fans don’t do these things,” he said.
Another officer remarked that they realised Kevin was hiding in the ceiling after reviewing CCTV footage that captured his movements.
Kevin was eventually brought down safely and arrested to face allegations related to the procurement case.
The alleged tender fraud involved KSh 30.2 million, while reports indicate that officers also recovered more than KSh 300,000 in cash from his vehicle.
