The retirement celebration doubled as a rare family introduction, with Ogega proudly presenting his two wives, sons, daughters and grandchildren to the gathering.

The joy visible across his extended family made the occasion feel less like a farewell and more like a celebration of a life well-built.

School Transformed in Kisii

In his address to staff, students and guests, Ogega reflected on the remarkable journey Nyabisase Secondary School had taken under his watch. When he took over in 2015, the institution was a modest day school with just 120 students.

By the time he handed over his keys to the board on 30 June 2026, it had grown into a regional powerhouse enrolling 3,500 students, a tenfold increase that stands as his most visible legacy.

He extended his best wishes to whoever takes the helm next, acknowledging that the foundation had been well laid.

“To all teachers, we have worked in harmony, and you supported me,” he told the gathering, in what many described as one of the most moving parts of his speech.

A Convoy Fit for a Servant Leader

Ogega also shared what he intends to do with his newfound freedom: spend as much time as possible with his grandchildren, a promise that drew warm applause from the crowd.

As the ceremony drew to a close, an endless convoy of vehicles escorted him from the school compound towards home, a spontaneous show of affection from colleagues, former students and community members who had gathered to mark the moment.
