A female member of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has triggered conversations online after alleging that she was denied acceptance by her Place of Primary Assignment (PPA) because of her body size.
The corps member made the claim in a viral video shared on social media, where she appeared dressed in her NYSC uniform. The emotional clip featured the caption: “I’m crying all night long, so why don’t you want this to end?”
In the video, she explained her experience through an on-screen message, stating that being turned away by her PPA due to her appearance was painful and difficult to process.
She wrote: “Not going to lie, getting rejected by my PPA because of my body stung, it’s hard facing discrimination in a program meant to unite us. But I’m keeping my head high, my capacity to serve and succeed doesn’t depend on a scale.”
However, the NYSC member did not reveal the identity of the organisation where she was posted or share additional information about the alleged incident.
Following the video’s circulation, social media users have shared different opinions, with some expressing support for her while others questioned the details surrounding the claim. The conversation has also sparked discussions about body discrimination and fairness within workplace environments.

Read some comments below:
@James Ashipa:”Why body shaming her?”
@Arthur Amadi🎗:”This is clearly discriminatory on grounds of physical size or features. No one should have to suffer such deprivation based on bodily features. That violates her constitutional rights. She should get a lawyer and school that organization. The difficulty here is that the useless scheme called NYSC is the instrument behind this humiliation and purported abuse of young people. It is not supposed to be so.”
@Rita Somtochukwu:”That’s very bad of that PPA or is there something you’re not telling us”
@Bulus Paul:”Can we say this is discrimination or stigmatization?”
@Shimon:”This is so wrong in this day and age. NYSC should be about service and character not appearance. Hope the authorities step in and address this kind of bias quickly.”
