The academy had earlier fixed Wednesday, July 15, 2026, as the closing date for its online application portal. However, the portal will now remain open until Wednesday, July 22, 2026.
The extension was announced in a statement by the Academy’s Public Relations Officer, DSP Umar Musa Isah.
According to the statement, the Commandant of the academy, Assistant Inspector-General of Police Patrick A. Atayero, approved the extension to allow qualified candidates who were unable to complete their registration before the initial deadline another opportunity to apply.
He urged all interested applicants to take advantage of the additional week, stressing that no further extension would be granted after the new closing date.
The Nigeria Police Academy, located in Wudil, Kano State, is the country’s only degree-awarding police academy. It runs a five-year programme that combines university education with professional police training in areas such as law, ethics, weapon handling, police drills and leadership development, culminating in the commissioning of successful cadets as Assistant Superintendents of Police (ASP).
