Burglars target Yamal’s home after Spain reach World Cup final

Spain star Lamine Yamal’s Barcelona home was targeted in an attempted burglary just hours after he helped La Roja secure a place in the 2026 FIFA World Cup final with a 2-0 victory over France.

The attempted break-in reportedly occurred in the early hours of Wednesday at the teenager’s residence in Esplugues de Llobregat while Yamal remained in the United States with the Spain squad.

According to Euro News, two hooded individuals were spotted by the player’s private security team on CCTV as they attempted to scale the perimeter wall of the property.

The quick response of the security personnel reportedly forced the suspects to flee before gaining entry into the mansion or stealing any valuables.

Local police, the Mossos d’Esquadra, were alerted immediately, but the suspects escaped before officers arrived at the scene.

Authorities have since launched an investigation and are reviewing surveillance footage from the property in an effort to identify and trace the two suspects.

The incident is said to be part of a growing trend of organised criminal gangs targeting the homes of professional footballers while they are away on international duty.

Several properties within the same residential area have reportedly been targeted in recent months, with criminals often seeking luxury watches, jewellery and other expensive items.

The mansion previously belonged to former Barcelona defender Gerard Pique and global music star Shakira before Yamal acquired the property.

The Spain international had recently shared glimpses of the residence before travelling to North America for the World Cup.

Despite the attempted burglary, no property was reported stolen, with the player’s security team preventing the intruders from entering the house.

Yamal is now preparing for the biggest match of his career as Spain bid to win the 2026 FIFA World Cup title in the final.
