NPFL announces date for 2026/27 season kickoff

The Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) has officially unveiled the calendar for the 2026/27 season, with the timeline for the President Federation Cup also included.

The schedule provides clubs, players, match officials, broadcasters, and other stakeholders with a clear roadmap for the campaign.

The 2026/2027 NPFL season will officially kick off on the weekend of August 28 to 30, 2026. 

The campaign will run across 38 matchdays and conclude on May 30, 2027.

The Mid-Season Break has been fixed for December 23, 2026  to January 6, 2027.

For the President Federation Cup, state playoffs begin in early February 2027, with the national competition running alongside the league.

Looking even further ahead, the league has also released the tentative calendar for the 2027/28 NPFL season. 

The campaign is expected to begin between August 27 and 29, 2027 and end on May 28, 2028, reinforcing the league’s commitment to maintaining a structured and predictable football calendar.

The early announcement is expected to help clubs manage player recruitment, pre-season programmes, travel logistics, and other key operational activities well in advance.
