Peter Obi Agrees with Adeboye: Tinubu Has Tried His Best – But Should “Go Home and Rest”

NDC presidential candidate Peter Obi has backed Pastor Enoch Adeboye’s comments that President Bola Tinubu has done his best on security, but argued that the President should “go home and rest” because his best is not good enough.

Speaking in an interview with Chude Jideonwo, Obi said: “What he said was correct. He said he has tried his best. He’s trying his best. That’s it. The question to ask is: Is his best good enough?” Obi argued that leadership requires competence, capacity, compassion, commitment, and character, adding:

“President Tinubu is tired. He needs to go home and rest.” Adeboye had earlier defended Tinubu, saying the President had fulfilled his responsibility by issuing directives to the military, but expressed concern over worsening insecurity and advised a 90-day ultimatum for military commanders.

Key Points:

Obi agrees with Adeboye’s assessment that Tinubu has tried his best
He questions whether “trying his best” is sufficient given Nigeria’s challenges
Obi argues Tinubu lacks the capacity to address the country’s security crisis
The statement frames the 2027 election as a choice between effort and results
Adeboye had earlier defended Tinubu but expressed concern over worsening insecurity

Obi’s comments add to the growing political discourse ahead of the 2027 elections. The opposition is framing the election as a choice between a tired administration and a new, capable leadership.
