At least two people were spotted hanging a flag from the upper tier of the Empire State Building on Wednesday.
The figures were observed near the top of the Midtown Manhattan landmark with a large banner reading, “when the power of love beats the love of power the world knows peace,” the New York Post reported.
New York City police and building security responded to the scene. Helicopters were also seen circling the building and filming.
Authorities have not yet released the identities of those involved, the motive behind the stunt, or the specific text or symbols on the flag.
The investigation is ongoing.
