A worrying video making the rounds on social media has shown some Nigerian soldiers in the hands of ISWAP terrorists. The footage, which surfaced on Sunday, 19 July 2026, was recorded in a desert area. Militants can be heard chanting “Allahu Akbar” as they stand over the captured soldiers.
The video shows men in military uniforms with their hands raised. They are in an open, sandy desert place with vehicles and armed fighters around them. This highlights the dangerous and brutal nature of the fight against insurgency in the North-East.Watch Video Here
ISWAP, which is the Islamic State West Africa Province, operates mostly in Borno State, especially around the Lake Chad region. This desert area is known for such attacks. The exact village or spot where this happened has not been confirmed by the military yet, but it is clearly in the Borno desert terrain.
The Nigerian Army has not released an official statement on this particular video as at the time of this report. Such videos are often used by terrorists for propaganda to scare people and show their power.
