Former Borno State Governor Ali Modu Sheriff has defended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s performance in office, citing international recognition and state invitations as some of the administration’s notable achievements.
Speaking during an appearance on Politics Today on Channels Television, Sheriff argued that President Tinubu has continued to receive global recognition despite criticism from opposition figures.
According to him, one of the President’s major achievements is receiving an official invitation to Buckingham Palace, noting that only one Nigerian president had received such an invitation in the past three decades.
“President is doing very well… Within the last 30 years or so, only one President was invited to Buckingham Palace officially… Secondly, President Tinubu was invited to France.”
His remarks have since sparked reactions on social media, with many Nigerians questioning whether diplomatic invitations should be regarded as significant achievements compared to addressing the country’s economic and security challenges.
