Former Ekiti State Governor, Dr Kayode Fayemi, has celebrated the achievements of two young Nigerians who benefitted from his administration’s education interventions, describing their success as proof of the long-term value of investing in education.

Fayemi disclosed that Kayode Adeniyi has been awarded the prestigious Shawki Saad PhD Scholarship at Imperial College London, an award presented to only one candidate annually.

  • He recalled that Adeniyi’s first experience using a laptop came through an educational initiative introduced during his tenure as governor of Ekiti State.

According to Fayemi, the early investment has now culminated in Adeniyi pursuing advanced research in artificial intelligence at one of the world’s leading universities.

He also praised Dr Tosin Durodola, another beneficiary of the same education programme, who recently completed a fully funded PhD at the University of Edinburgh without corrections and has been appointed a Postdoctoral Research Associate at King’s College London.

Reflecting on their accomplishments, Fayemi said the success of both scholars reinforces his belief that sustained investment in education delivers lasting benefits.

“Investments in education rarely produce instant results, but when they are sustained and combined with the determination of young people, they yield dividends that endure for generations,” he said.
