Utumishi Girls Academy resumes classes after tragic fire that killed 16 students and injuring many other girls who are now still recuperating

Weeks ago, the school experienced one of the most devastating events for them and for Kenyans this year when some girls plotted to burn a dorm, and in the end, 16 girls lay dead.

The series of events following the fire saw some parents try their best to enter the school and save their daughters, and another family lost a mother as she got into an accident alongside her husband to go and see about the welfare of their daughter.

Every affected family held its own burial ceremony where they decried the incident and demanded justice for their innocent children. So far, the eight are still in custody, and the case has started in earnest with many people keenly watching to see how it is going to end.

How did Utumishi parents pay for damages?

As the students trooped to school, they were seen carrying a lot of luggage, and in the end their parents helped them, and the parents disclosed that they bought everything they needed in school despite them being in Form Four.

“It is like we are starting Form One again,” they said.

A parent also urged the students to start afresh, without keeping what happened in their school in their minds.

“I’m urging the kids to forget what happened and know that God is with them and the blood of Jesus is covering this school. In case there are bad students, they should speak, and the teachers should always listen and not take it as gossip,” she said.

“When the students were at home, we took them for counselling and even took them to church for prayers and parents we have been taking to them. As parents we are still crying as and it has nit been easuy for us,”she said.

I would transfer my child from that school. The trauma is too much.

Yes, killed by fire, set by fellow students…who knew fire kills and they lit it in the dead of the night anyway , talk of gross misconduct
