Veteran Nollywood actor Jide Kosoko has appealed to Nigerians to give President Bola Tinubu more time to implement his policies, arguing that the administration should not be judged until the full impact of its reforms can be seen.
Speaking in an interview with FeelrightnewsTV, Kosoko compared governing a country to constructing a building, saying no one can fairly assess a project before it is completed.
“If you are building a house, you cannot assess such a building and give it a pass mark until the building is completed.”
The actor stressed that Tinubu, like every human being, is not perfect and should not be expected to get everything right.
“Bola Ahmed Tinubu is not God. That means he cannot be perfect.”
Kosoko also claimed that many of the President’s critics are shaping public opinion, particularly among young Nigerians.
“Let me tell you, what those opposing Tinubu are projecting for you to say is what you will be saying. What they have crafted that they want you to carry in your head is what you will carry.”
Addressing Gen Z, he added:
“They know you, Gen Z. You are easy to manipulate and control. Once they control you, you will all go on overdrive.”
The veteran actor further alleged that some activists criticising the government secretly receive money from those in power while presenting themselves as independent voices.
“The so-called activists, we know how they take money from government but come out to influence citizens. But when we talk, they accuse us of taking money to support the government. As if we don’t have a mind of our own, as if we don’t have family members suffering or as if we are enjoying well.”
While acknowledging the economic hardship facing many Nigerians, Kosoko argued that distributing money to citizens is not a practical solution given the country’s population. He urged Nigerians to remain patient and allow the administration’s reforms time to produce results.
