
Adamawa State Correspondents Chapel of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), on Wednesday said that arrangements have been concluded to hold this year Correspondents day celebration in the state.
The chapel also rolled out series of activities line up for the celebration.
Speaking at a press conference in Yola, chairman local organizing committee (LOC) of the event, Umar Dankano of Daily Trust Newspapers, said the event will start on 15th with a free medical outreach to both practicing journalists in the state and the general public which will be followed with novelty football match between the Executives and the Legislative arm of Government in the state.
He further noted thaton 16th April there will be a training workshop for 100 practicing journalists in the state, and paper presentations by erudite scholars led by Prof. Danjuma Gambo, Dean Faculty of Communications and Media studies, Madibbo Adama University ( MAU) yola on election reportage ahead of 2027 elections.
He further added that an award of excellence will be given out to some members of the chapel and other stakeholders in the media industry for excellence reportage, professional conduct, discipline and commitments in the discharged of their responsibilities.
He stressed that the correspondents day provides a unique opportunity for media practitioners to pause and reflect on their collective contributions towards shaping the society so as to advance public discourse, promote accountability and contribute to social and mental wellbeing of communities.
According to him, the event reflect the modest but impactful achievements of Adamawa state correspondents chapel under the leadership of Comrade Ibrahim Kado who just mark one year in office.
