Airtel Nigeria has announced the temporary suspension of its airtime and data credit services for prepaid customers.

The affected services previously allowed eligible users to borrow airtime or data and repay on their next recharge.

In a statement signed by the company’s Director of Corporate Communications and CSR, Femi Adeniran, Airtel assured customers that airtime and data purchases would continue uninterrupted through its existing channels.

The company stated that the temporary suspension would not significantly affect its overall service standards across the country.

Speaking on the development, the Director of Marketing at Airtel Nigeria, Ismail Adeshina, described the move as necessary to align operations with evolving requirements.

“This is a necessary and responsible step as we align our operations with evolving requirements. Airtel Nigeria remains committed to the highest standards of compliance, transparency, and consumer protection, while continuing to innovate responsibly within Nigeria’s digital ecosystem,” he said.

The company added that customers would be notified once there are updates regarding the status of the suspended services.

Airtel Africa Plc, the parent company of Airtel Nigeria, operates in 14 countries across East, Central, and West Africa, including Nigeria.
