A United States-based community leader and public servant, Chief Agwu Amah Agwu, has declared his intention to contest the 2027 House of Representatives election for Afikpo and Edda federal constituency.

Agwu, who is leading the Agwu Amah Movement, is contesting under the African Democracy Congress (ADC).

Declaring his intentions, Agwu said his ambition was driven by a passion for service and a commitment to improving the living conditions of his people.

“My aspiration is rooted in service to the people. I am stepping forward because our constituency deserves effective representation that prioritises development, inclusion, and opportunity for all,” he said.

He noted that his background in finance, entrepreneurship, and community leadership has equipped him with the skills required to address the socio-economic challenges confronting the constituency.

“I bring to the table years of experience in financial management, leadership, and grassroots engagement.

“These experiences have prepared me to deliver results and attract meaningful development to our constituency,” Agwu stated.

Speaking on his agenda, the aspirant identified economic empowerment as a critical focus, stressing the need to create sustainable jobs and support local businesses.

“We must empower our youths and entrepreneurs by creating an enabling environment for businesses to thrive. Job creation and economic growth will be at the heart of my legislative priorities,” he added.

On education, Agwu pledged to expand access to quality learning and provide support for disadvantaged students.

“Education remains the foundation of any progressive society. I will champion policies that improve access to quality education and expand scholarship opportunities for our young people,” he said.

He also underscored the importance of improving healthcare delivery in the constituency, promising to support initiatives that will strengthen medical services.

“Our people deserve access to affordable and quality healthcare. I will work to enhance healthcare infrastructure and support medical outreach programmes, especially in underserved communities,” he noted.

Agwu further emphasized community development, promising to attract projects that would improve infrastructure and social welfare.

“We will pursue aggressive community development through infrastructure, social welfare programmes, and projects that directly impact the lives of our people,” he said.

He called on constituents of Afikpo and Edda to support his vision, urging them to join the movement for change.

“I invite everyone to be part of this journey. Together, we can build a prosperous, united, and inclusive constituency where no one is left behind,” Agwu said.
