Speaking during an interview on Arise News on .... Thursday, April 30, 2026, Kachikwu said Nigerians were largely united in their opposition to Jonathan at the time, despite what he suggested was a lack of clearly defined reasons.

According to him, the anti-Jonathan sentiment created the conditions that led to the election of former President Muhammadu Buhari in 2015.

“Nigerians as a whole hated that man and couldn’t explain .... why. What happened? We brought in President Buhari,” Kachikwu said, referencing the political shift that ended Jonathan’s tenure.
