Ladipo Johnson, spokesperson for the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP), has expressed optimism that opposition parties will endure what he described as coordinated attempts to weaken them ahead of the 2027 general elections........…
Speaking in an interview on Arise News, Johnson said there are ongoing efforts to destabilize opposition parties through infiltration and internal divisions. .... However, he insisted these challenges would not succeed in destroying them.
He stated that, despite the pressure, at least one opposition party would manage to withstand the situation, saying, “One way or another, we have several parties; .... one of them will escape and survive the onslaught.”
Johnson also accused the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) of working to reduce political competition before the next election, pointing to comments allegedly made by APC chieftain Festus Keyamo as evidence of such intentions.
He further criticized aspects of the recently amended Electoral Act, arguing that the May 30 deadline for party primaries appears to place opposition parties at a disadvantage.
Despite these concerns, Johnson maintained that opposition groups are still capable of forming alliances and presenting a united presidential candidate for the 2027 elections.…READ / MORE…
