In Oyo State, Senator Sharafadeen Alli and former .... Minister of Power, Adebayo Adelabu, picked up governorship forms, setting the stage for a competitive primary.

Several senatorial and House of Representatives hopefuls also joined the race, underscoring widening participation within the party.

In Lagos, Olajide Adediran (Jandor) entered .... the governorship contest despite the endorsement of Deputy Governor Obafemi Hamzat by party leaders.

Adediran insisted on a fair process, aligning with the party’s stance on direct primaries. Another aspirant, Samuel Ajose, also called for equal opportunity, warning against imposed candidacies.

Hamzat, however, received backing from President Bola Tinubu and key stakeholders, strengthening his position ahead of the primaries. Party leaders maintained that consensus would not replace the official primary process.

In Borno and Yobe states, endorsements shaped the political landscape as governors backed preferred successors. Meanwhile, other aspirants still purchased forms, indicating possible contests.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) scheduled party primaries between April 23 and May 30, 2026, with general elections set for early 2027.
