‎The Senator representing Edo South Senatorial District, Barr. Neda Imasuen, has declared his intention to seek re-election, urging leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) to return him to the Senate to secure ranking status and strengthen the district’s influence.

‎Speaking at a stakeholders’ meeting in Edo South on Saturday, Imasuen stressed that ranking in the Senate determines access to key committees and decision-making leverage, warning that losing continuity would weaken the district’s voice.

‎“In the Senate, ranking matters. It gives you leverage and better opportunities to serve your people. If we lose it now, we go back to the beginning,” he said.

‎The Senator, who attributed his 2023 victory to divine grace, noted that his emergence defied expectations, insisting that the same grace would guide his re-election bid.

‎Presenting his scorecard after 30 months in office, Imasuen highlighted his achievements in education, healthcare, infrastructure, youth empowerment, and employment.

‎He said his interventions include scholarships for students, vocational training programmes, community-based healthcare services, construction of roads in parts of the district, and installation of solar-powered streetlights across several communities.

‎The senator who is the Chairman, Senate Committee on Ethics, Privileges and Public Petitions, disclosed that he facilitated federal employment for over 30 of his constituents and executed empowerment programmes for youths and women.

‎He noted that he has handled over 40 petitions and contributed to national legislative processes.

‎Imasuen assured party leaders that his approach to representation would remain anchored on dialogue and collaboration.

‎“I will be a builder, not a warrior. I will negotiate, not confront. I will be a consensus builder,” he stated.

‎He, however, called for unity among political actors in Edo South, warning against divisive tendencies.

‎The senator appealed for support from party leaders and stakeholders, pledging to consolidate on existing achievements and deliver more dividends of democracy if re-elected.

‎In his remark, the Edo South Leader and ex-deputy governor of the state, Barr. Pius Odubu, admonished aspirants to discuss among themselves and avoid abusive words in their campaigns because according to him, they belong to one political family.
