
The Imo state Police command Monday successfully apprehended two suspected armed robbers and recovered a pump-action rifle and a stolen motorcycle in Owerri.
The command’s spokesman, DSP Henry Okoye, stated in a press statement that: “Acting on credible intelligence, operatives of New Owerri Divisional Headquarters, led by the DPO, CSP Safiyanu Usman Gwarzo, arrested Sohnani Bitrus, 25, and Burfa Selkap, 25, both natives of Karnana, Langtang LGA, Plateau state, on April 3, 2026.
“Preliminary investigations revealed that the suspects robbed one Joel Andrew in his residence at about 0400hrs, threatening him with a firearm and unlawfully seizing his red Daylong motorcycle (registration number NWA 765 QT). The motorcycle has since been recovered. Further interrogation of the suspects led to the recovery of the pump-action rifle and machete in their hideout within Okwu-Uratta, Owerri North LGA.
“The suspects will be transferred to SCID Owerri for consolidation of ongoing investigation and efforts are continuing to apprehend any remaining accomplices.”
