The Ketu Intelligentsia Forum has called on the leadership of the All Progressives Congress in Ogun State to zone the Ogun West senatorial ticket for the 2027 general elections to the Imeko-Afon axis, citing the need for equity and sustained electoral success.

The group in an open letter dated April 28, 2026,  signed  by Prince Sola Bamigbade (Secretary-General); AbdLateef Olusoji Emilandu (Director, Strategy & Mobilisation); and Dr Ayilara Ayinla Muraina, Esq (Chairman) and addressed to the state leadership of the party, argued that producing the next senator from Imeko-Afon would correct what it described as a long-standing marginalisation within the district.

The forum, which identified itself as a representative body of Ketu people across Yewaland and beyond, commended the APC leadership for the peaceful emergence of Solomon Olamilekan Adeola as the party’s consensus governorship candidate.

It also acknowledged the role played by Gboyega Nasir Isiaka, describing his decision to step aside during the governorship process as a demonstration of statesmanship and commitment to party unity.

The group, however, urged the party to reward Isiaka’s “sacrifice” with a strategic political role that reflects his influence and capacity to mobilise voters.

The letter further stressed that the Imeko-Afon axis, despite being a full-fledged local government area, had never produced a senator since the creation of Ogun State.

According to the forum, addressing this imbalance would not only promote fairness but also strengthen the APC’s chances in future elections.

It noted that the party’s improved performance in the area during the 2023 elections should not be taken for granted, attributing the success to what it described as a “specific political alignment.”

The group pledged that if the APC zones the senatorial ticket to Imeko-Afon, it would mobilise a bloc vote across the five local governments in Ogun West, as well as among Ketu indigenes residing outside the district.

It added that such a move would help the party consolidate its gains and transform recent electoral victories into a lasting stronghold.

The forum urged party leaders to prioritise equity and strategic considerations over numerical calculations in deciding the ticket, insisting that inclusive representation remains key to political stability and success in Ogun West.
