FC Midtjylland midfielder Alamara Djabi is in a stable condition after being seriously injured in a stabbing incident in Denmark.
Police confirmed that Alamara Djabi suffered the attack in the early hours of Sunday morning, April 19, in Herning, the central Danish town where the club is based.
The 19-year-old Guinea-Bissau international joined Midtjylland from Benfica’s academy in 2023 and has quickly been regarded as one of the club’s promising young midfielders. He has made two senior appearances for the Danish side as he continues his development in European football.
The club issued an update on his condition earlier today, April 21, revealing the severity of his injuries and the emergency treatment he received after the attack. Midtjylland said Djabi had been “in critical condition and underwent emergency surgery”.
The club added, “Since then, he has undergone another operation, and thanks to the professional efforts of the emergency responders and later the hospital staff, his condition is now stable.
“He has awakened from an induced coma and is doing well under the circumstances.”
Djabi spent last season on loan at CD Mafra, making seven appearances in Portugal’s second division, before returning to Midtjylland where he has featured in Europa League qualifying this term, marking his continued integration into the first-team setup.
The four-time Danish Superliga champions last won the title in 2024 and currently sit second, two points behind AGF, as the club continues its push at the top of the table.
Authorities in Denmark have confirmed that investigations into the circumstances surrounding the stabbing are ongoing. No further details have been released, and police have urged anyone with information to come forward.
