NFF Electoral Committees For 2026 Executive Elections Begins Work

The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has inaugurated its Electoral Committee and Electoral Appeals Committee ahead of elections into the federation’s Executive Committee for the 2026-2030 term.

NFF President Ibrahim Musa Gusau performed the inauguration at the federation’s secretariat in Abuja on Thursday, April 2, urging members to carry out their duties without fear or favour.

Speaking on behalf of the committees, Senior Advocate of Nigeria Matthew Burka’a assured stakeholders of a credible process.

“We will approach this task with the seriousness it deserves. On behalf of all the members, I assure the NFF, football-loving Nigerians and the world at large that we are going to conduct a free, fair, credible and acceptable election,” he said.

“We are aware of the attention of the entire world, FIFA, CAF and the Nigeria Football family on the task we have been saddled with. There is nothing to fear. We will work assiduously towards this election being the best-ever in the history of the Nigeria Football Federation.”

The Electoral Committee comprises Burka’a, Alhaji Babagoni Grema, Alhaji Bature Musa, Ayibaye Peter Great Temedie and Hon. (Dr) Akogun Olugbenga Omole, with Arinze Azubuike Anughele and Abayomi Akin Omoyimi as alternate members.

Hon. Justice C. J. Aneke, Barr. Benjamin Sati and Professor Abdulmalik Awwal will serve on the Electoral Appeals Committee, with FIFA Emmanuel Dada Obafemi and Ayi Ekpo Ukpayam as alternates.

Gusau also confirmed that NFF General Secretary Mohammed Sanusi will act as secretary to both committees in line with the federation’s statutes.

The elections into the NFF Executive Committee are scheduled for Saturday, 26 September in Lafia, Nasarawa State.

Among those present at the ceremony were Director General of the National Institute for Sports Philip Shaibu, NFF First Vice President Felix Anyansi-Agwu, Executive Committee members Silas Agara and George Aluo, alongside management and staff of the federation.
