Former Benue State Governor, Samuel Ortom has dismissed claims that he intends to run for any political office in the 2027 general elections.

The clarification was made on Saturday in a statement issued in Makurdi by his media aide, Dr. Terver Akase.

Speculation had circulated on social media suggesting that Ortom was preparing to contest the Benue North-West Senatorial seat in the next election cycle.

Reacting to the claims, Ortom stated that he has no intention whatsoever of contesting any elective office in 2027, noting that he has made this position clear on several occasions.

“I have no intention whatsoever to contest any elective office in 2027. I have said this clearly, publicly, and repeatedly. I expect that a position stated this plainly would not require translation or creative reinterpretation,” he said.

The former governor reiterated that his focus remains on promoting democratic values, strengthening the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), and offering leadership guidance rather than seeking elective office.

He also urged the public to disregard the reports, describing them as fabricated claims.
