Governor Umar Bago of Niger State has said President Bola Tinubu had given governors of the All Progressives Congress, APC, a marching order on what to do regarding primaries.
Bago disclosed this to State House correspondents after a meeting between APC governors and Tinubu at the Presidential Villa on Thursday.
He said Tinubu has ceded his executive powers to APC governors to conduct primaries based on the Electoral Act.
According to Bago: “We came to thank the President for his magnanimity and his support to the governors and for our party, the APC.
“President Tinubu gave us some marching orders on what to do, for him also to have given and ceded his executive power to governors to go ahead and conduct primaries based on the electoral act, either by consensus or direct primaries based on the Electoral Act, either consensus or direct primaries.
“So he reiterated his support for our decision and he has given us a go ahead.”
