According to Obasanjo, the late leader moved around .... with little to no protection—often driving himself without motorcades, sirens, or heavy security. This, he said, stemmed from a naive belief that no harm would come to a man serving his nation selflessly.
“Murtala would not have been killed the way he was killed if not for our naivety,” Obasanjo confessed.
