Zone Presidency To South Or Lose – Peter Obi’s Camp Warns

National Coordinator of the Obidient Movement Dr. Yunusa Tanko

Spokesperson to former Labour Party’s presidential candidate, Peter Obi, Yunusa Tanko has stated that political parties seeking victory in 2027 should zone their presidential ticket to the south.

Yunusa made the remarks on Wednesday during an appearance on Channels Television’s ‘Politics Today’, where he spoke on zoning and electoral strategy for unseating the incumbent All Progressives Congress (APC) government.

He argued that maintaining the current power rotation would improve any party’s chances at the 2027 polls.

The fact still remains that it’s a southern presidency at the moment,” Yunusa said in veiled campaign for his principal Peter Obi’s ticket.

“To make it easy for the party to win, zone it to the South and give the candidacy to the South, and you are sure of winning,” he stated.

Yunusa warned that any deviation from this arrangement could jeopardise electoral changes of the African Democratic Congress (ADC).

Anything short of that will only bring you losing the election,” he added.

He further urged Nigerians to independently assess the political landscape, insisting that public opinion supports his position.

I am saying this for every Nigerian to critically go and do his own independent poll; it will clearly show that,” Yunusa said.

His comments came amid ongoing debates over zoning and power rotation as political parties begin early calculations ahead of the 2027 presidential race.
