Aisha Yesufu Breaks Silence as NDC Backs Amanda Pam for FCT Senate Race

Popular activist and politician Aisha Yesufu has reacted following reports that the Nigerian Democratic Congress (NDC) is set to endorse Barrister Amanda Pam as its consensus candidate for the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) senatorial seat ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The decision reportedly followed internal consultations within the party, leading to the cancellation of direct primaries for the FCT Senate position. According to reports from several news platforms, the move is expected to pave the way for Amanda Pam’s emergence as the party’s candidate.

Responding to the development, Yesufu called on her supporters to stay focused and peaceful despite the outcome of the party’s decision.

She explained that while primaries would still hold for House of Representatives aspirants in the FCT, the party had chosen a different arrangement for the senatorial ticket.

“Yes, the party has decided not to conduct primaries for the senatorial seat in Abuja,” Yesufu stated while appreciating members of her support movement for their commitment throughout the process.

The activist further expressed gratitude to residents across the six Area Councils in the FCT who supported her political ambition, adding that she would continue engaging with the grassroots.

Yesufu recently joined the NDC after leaving the African Democratic Congress (ADC), a move that drew attention nationwide due to her strong political influence and past support for Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi.

Political analysts believe the NDC’s decision may have been aimed at preventing internal conflict ahead of the next election cycle. However, the development has continued to spark reactions among party supporters and political observers online.

Despite not securing the ticket through a primary process, Yesufu maintained a calm tone in her reaction and urged opposition supporters to remain united as preparations for the 2027 elections continue.
