Amore Decries Political Marginalisation of Ilobi/Erinja Ward

An aspirant for the Ogun State House of Assembly on the platform of the All Progressives Congress, Olusegun Olugbemileke Amore, has called on elders and stakeholders in Yewa South Local Government to address what he described as the prolonged political marginalisation of Ilobi/Erinja Ward in the Ifekowajo District.

Amore, who is seeking to represent Yewa South State Constituency in the Ogun State House of Assembly, alleged that Ilobi/Erinja Ward has been denied elective political positions since the advent of the Second Republic in 1979.

Speaking with journalists in Ilaro on Tuesday, the APC aspirant outlined what he described as the pattern of political representation within the Ifekowajo District over the years.

According to him, Oke-Odan Ward produced the late Chief D.O. Bankole, who served in the House of Representatives, while Ajilete Ward produced Hon. Dada, who represented the area in the Ogun State House of Assembly.

He further stated that Owode Ward 1 produced Hon. M.A. Ajibola, Hon. Fatayi Olayode, and Rt. Hon. Abiodun Akinlade, all of whom held elective positions at the state and federal levels. He added that Owode Ward 2 produced Hon. Folakemi Akintayo, while Oke-Odan Ward also produced Hon. Tolu Bankole.

Amore, however, lamented that Ilobi/Erinja Ward has never produced a member of the Ogun State House of Assembly or a representative at the National Assembly level.

He said the development had continued to create feelings of exclusion among residents and political stakeholders in the ward.

“Methinks for equity and fairness, the elders, leaders, and members of APC in Yewa South and Ogun State should look into the anomalies in the rotational arrangement within the party, with a view to giving the good people of Ilobi/Erinja Ward a sense of belonging in the scheme of things,” he said.

“I am not fighting anybody, but merely calling the attention of our fathers and mothers in the APC to this silent marginalisation going on in the area without anyone talking about it,” he added.

The Information Technology expert-turned-politician expressed confidence that party leaders in the Ifekowajo District would take necessary steps to address the imbalance.

Amore recently obtained the APC nomination form and successfully passed the party’s screening exercise to contest for the Yewa South State Constituency seat in the Ogun State House of Assembly.

His aspiration, according to supporters, has continued to generate interest among party faithful, youths, women groups, and political stakeholders across Yewa South, who view him as a grassroots-oriented politician committed to community development and quality representation.
